Anders Fogh Rasmussen has been at the centre of European and global politics for more than three decades, dedicating his career to advancing freedom, democracy, and collective security.

As Prime Minister of Denmark, he helped the EU deliver its largest-ever enlargement. As NATO Secretary General he steered the Alliance through turbulent times and set in stone the two percent spending target for all NATO countries to reach following Russia’s invasion of Crimea.

Since leaving public office, Rasmussen has continued the fight to strengthen the democratic world in the face of rising authoritarian threats.

In 2017, he founded the Alliance of Democracies Foundation. Today, the mission remains clear: to strengthen the ability of democracies to stand together, defend themselves, and prevail in an increasingly contested world.
